When Does Guidance Become Avoidance?
When does guidance become avoidance? It happens the moment you already know your answer, but you ask for one more sign anyway. In Episode 99 of the Spiritual Awakening with Shaz podcast, I talk about something I catch myself doing too, using cards, pendulums and everyone else’s opinion to delay a decision you’ve actually already made. Underneath all of that searching, you already know what you want to choose. This post maps out how to tell the difference, and how to trust yourself enough to act.
Guidance Is a Tool, Not Permission
Guidance is meant to support your intuition, not replace it. A psychic or a set of cards can show you the pathways available. They can’t choose for you, and they were never meant to. Even the language you use matters here. “Should I do this” is asking permission from someone else. “Will I do this” puts the power back in your hands. Try asking instead, “is this my highest good, and what do I need to do next.” Only you can actually answer that one.
Signs Are Confirmation, Not a Decision
Signs and synchronicities are wonderful. I love receiving them myself. But they confirm a decision, they don’t make one for you. If you’re asking the same question fifteen different ways, through a card, a pendulum, a friend, a psychic, you’re not gathering guidance anymore. You’re avoiding the choice. You don’t need another sign. You need to notice you already have your answer, and give yourself permission to act on it.
How Your Body Actually Tells You the Truth
Your body is always communicating with you, and it rarely lies. Notice how you feel the moment someone walks through the door. Does your body soften, does your breath open up, is there a sense of relief? Those are good signs. Or do you brace, tighten, and pull away without even meaning to? That’s your body flagging something worth paying attention to. Even anxiety and excitement can feel almost identical, both show up as butterflies in the stomach. Learning your own body’s language matters more than any card ever will, and I’ve written more on this in what your body is trying to tell you.
Why Failure Is Just Data
Fear of making the wrong choice keeps so many people stuck in analysis paralysis. Here’s the truth, you might make the wrong choice, and that’s genuinely fine. Failure isn’t a bad outcome, it’s information. It tells you what to try differently next time. Most of us only ever really learn the hard way, and that’s alright too. One method I love here is Mel Robbins’ five, four, three, two, one countdown, count down, then simply act. If it works, wonderful. If it doesn’t, you’ve just gathered the exact data you needed.
When does Guidance Become Avoidances Help you to Stop Outsourcing Your Decisions to Others
Everyone around you, your family, your friends, your followers online, has an opinion on what’s right for you. None of them are living your life. Their experience will never map perfectly onto yours, because it’s filtered entirely through their own perception. Handing your decision to someone else doesn’t just delay your growth, it hands away your personal responsibility too. Trust builds the same way a muscle does, through repetition. Every time you decide for yourself and follow through, you build a little more self-trust, and that self-trust eventually replaces the need for reassurance from anyone else.
