You Are Not Your Problems – Stop Holding On & Step Into Your Power
Episode 18 – Spiritual Awakening with Shaz
You often carry your problems, struggles, trauma, and pain as if they define who you are. You are NOT your problems or what happened to you—you are who you choose to become despite it. Holding onto the past can keep you trapped in old patterns, stopping you from stepping into your highest potential.
In this episode of Spiritual Awakening with Shaz, we dive deep into why we hold onto pain, how it keeps us stuck, and practical steps to finally release it and move forward.
Why You Hold Onto Pain & Struggle
Many of us unconsciously attach to our struggles, wearing them like a badge of honour. This happens because:
? The past feels familiar – Even if it was painful, it’s what we’ve always known.
? We fear losing our identity – If we let go of our struggles, who are we without them?
? Trauma rewires our beliefs – We internalise suffering as part of who we are.
? Society conditions us to glorify survival – Instead of moving forward, we stay in the story of what we’ve been through.
The problem? When you define yourself by your problems, you keep attracting more struggle.
Signs You’re Holding Onto the Past
How do you know if you’re unconsciously carrying emotional baggage? Here are some signs:
✔ You keep replaying painful memories – You relive the past instead of focusing on the future.
✔ You believe your struggles justify why you’re still stuck – “I can’t move forward because of what happened to me.”
✔ You feel guilt or discomfort when things are going well – You self-sabotage happiness because struggle feels ‘normal’.
✔ You attract the same toxic cycles – Unresolved emotions repeat in relationships, work, and self-worth.
✔ You identify with the struggle – Instead of seeing it as something you went through, you see it as who you are.
If any of these resonate with you, it’s time to ask: What if I could let this go and create a new story?
You Are Not Your Problems – The Truth About Letting Go
Your past shaped you, but it does not define you. Healing doesn’t mean denying your problems and struggles—it means learning from them and choosing not to let them control your future.
The real truth? Letting go doesn’t erase your story—it transforms it.
When you shift from victim to creator, you reclaim your power. Instead of saying, “This is what happened to me,” you say, “This is what I learned, and this is who I am becoming.”
How to Finally Let Go & Move Forward
1. Recognise the Story You’re Telling Yourself
Ask yourself:
- What labels have I given myself based on my past?
- How is this story keeping me small?
If you always say, “I’ve been through so much hardship”, try shifting it to “I’ve overcome so much and I’m stronger because of it.”
2. Reframe Your Past as a Lesson, Not an Identity
Instead of being defined by your struggles, see them as teachers. Ask:
- What did this experience teach me?
- How has it shaped my strength, wisdom, or resilience?
Your past was a classroom, not a life sentence.
3. Cut the Emotional Cords
Unresolved emotions stay in your energy field until you actively release them. Techniques to try:
✔ EFT tapping – Helps clear stuck emotional patterns.
✔ Breathwork & meditation – Releases trauma stored in the body.
✔ Writing & burning old stories – A powerful way to symbolically let go.
✔ Hypnosis & subconscious reprogramming – Shifts deep-rooted beliefs.
4. Step Into Your New Identity
Now that you’re releasing the old, ask:
- Who do I want to be without these burdens?
- What kind of future do I want to create?
Create affirmations that reflect your new reality:
I am free from my past. I am powerful and in control of my future.
I release all that no longer serves me. I choose peace, joy, and alignment.
5. Take Action Towards the Future
Letting go isn’t
