How to Trust Yourself When You’re Full of Doubt

How to Trust Yourself When You’re Full of Doubt

Episode 33 | Spiritual Awakening with Shaz

Do you constantly question yourself?

Ever feel like no matter how much you’ve done, you lack trust and you still hear that voice whispering, “Am I good enough?”

You’re not alone. In this episode, I talk about how to overcome self-doubt and finally start trusting yourself again – because true self-trust isn’t something you’re born with. It’s something you build.

This blog captures the full essence of Episode 33, so if you’d rather read than listen – this is for you.

What is Self-Doubt & Why Do We Have It?

Self-doubt is not a flaw.
It’s not weakness.
It’s not who you really are.

Self-doubt is learned. Most of us were taught to doubt ourselves – by family, schools, society, partners, or workplaces that told us we weren’t enough. That we needed to be smaller, quieter, smarter, prettier, or more agreeable.

But the truth? You came into this world already enough.

Just look at young children – they believe they can do anything. That confidence is natural. And it gets stripped away over time through criticism, rejection, and comparison.

How Doubt Shows Up in Your Life:

  • You second-guess everything you say or do

  • You procrastinate, freeze, or overthink small tasks

  • You constantly ask others for their opinion before taking action

  • You feel like you’re never measuring up – but don’t even know who you’re measuring against

Sound familiar? That’s not your truth speaking – that’s your conditioning.

The Real Reason You Don’t Trust Yourself:

You’ve been told not to.

Told to be a “good girl” and not cause problems.

Told to play it safe.

So your body and nervous system adapted.
Now, when you’re about to make a move – your brain hits you with doubt to “protect” you. But what it’s really doing is keeping you stuck.

So, How Do You Rebuild Self-Trust?

1. Shut down the noise

That voice in your head? It’s not yours. It’s the “itty bitty shitty committee” — and you can evict it. When you hear it, pause and say:
“No. This is not mine. I choose differently.”

2. Stop outsourcing your power

Ask yourself: Am I waiting for permission to take action?
You don’t need it. Make your decisions based on what feels right for you.

3. Start small, but stay consistent

Build trust by doing what you say you will — even if it’s just drinking water when you say you will. Your nervous system learns through repetition.

4. Forgive yourself for the past

You’re allowed to make mistakes. That doesn’t make you unworthy. That makes you human. Learn and move forward.

5. Track your wins

Write down every time you listened to your gut, and it was right. Build evidence for your intuition. Let it be the loudest voice.

Failure Is Not the Enemy – It’s the Teacher

No one masters anything the first time.
Not walking and not writing. Not life.

You didn’t fail – you’re just learning.
And if something didn’t work, pivot. Adjust. Try again.

The only real failure?
Doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result.

What Enough Really Means

So many women I work with say:
“I just don’t feel good enough.”

And my response is:
“Tell me what ‘enough’ looks like.”

Most can’t answer – because they’ve adopted someone else’s idea of enough: their mother’s, teacher’s, partner’s, boss’s.

But you get to decide what enough means. You set the bar. And you can change it any time you like.

The Power Is Already Inside You

Your inner guidance system is real.
That pull you feel… the “I just know this is what I need to do” — that’s your soul talking.

You don’t need someone else to validate it.
You just need to listen.

Because you are the only one who knows what’s truly right for you.

In Summary:

  • Self-doubt is learned – not natural
  • You can reprogram your beliefs through repetition and conscious choice
  • Self-trust is built – by doing the things you said you would
  • You are allowed to fail, shift, and grow
  • And you don’t need permission to start
