How Do Archangels Show Up?
How do archangels show up for you? So few of us are ever taught to notice. That’s the real heart of Episode 100 of the Spiritual Awakening with Shaz podcast. A hundred episodes in, I didn’t want to just celebrate. I wanted to explain the one thread that ties this whole podcast together, my relationship with the archangels. It’s also why my new book, Journeys with the Archangels, exists at all. This post maps out the signs, the specialties, and the simple way to ask. Start noticing them for yourself.
Why Archangels Can’t Help Until You Ask
Archangels cannot override your free will. They cannot step in uninvited, no matter how much they want to help. That single rule shapes everything else. You don’t need to know an archangel’s name to ask for support. You only need to know what you’re struggling with. Ask for courage, calm or clarity. Trust that the right one will show up. The asking matters more than the wording ever will.
What Each Archangel Actually Helps With
Every archangel tends to specialise in something specific.
- Archangel Michael steps in for protection, courage and boundaries. He’s also the one to call on for memory and focus if you’re studying.
- Archangel Raphael is the healer, the one you ask when your body needs support.
- Archangel Gabriel helps with communication, writing and creative expression, she’s the one for writer’s block.
- Archangel Uriel is the archangel of wisdom. He hands you the clarity you need to make a hard decision.
- Archangel Ariel supports self-love and emotional healing. She wraps you in comfort when your self-worth is low.
- Archangel Metatron works with children and family, especially when communication or bonding feels hard.
- Archangel Raguel is the archangel of justice and fairness, useful for legal battles, contracts and anything that feels unfair.
- Archangel Raziel holds the knowledge of healing combinations and formulas. Archangel Haniel governs cycles and rhythms, including sleep.
- Archangel Jeremiel brings dreams and visions. Archangel Azrael helps with grief, loss and the transition of a loved one crossing over.
“There is an archangel for everything. Most of us just don’t know how to ask.”
How do Archangel’s Show Up with Signs
Every archangel tends to show up in their own distinct way. Once you learn the pattern, you start noticing it everywhere.
- Archangel Michael often arrives as warmth, an unexplained hot flush, or a blanket-like heat wrapping around you out of nowhere.
- Archangel Jeremiel tends to sprinkle glitter or sparkle into your field of vision, tiny flecks of light with no obvious source.
- Archangel Ariel arrives as a soft breeze brushing your cheek or shoulder, even in a room with no airflow at all.
- Archangel Haniel governs the moon and the tides. She often shows up as a gentle rocking sensation, side to side, like a cradle gently rocking you.
None of these signs are loud. They’re subtle nudges, repeated numbers, a song on loop. Sometimes it’s a stranger’s comment that answers a question you never asked out loud.
Archangels Who Work Well Together
Archangels often pair up depending on what you need. Azrael works alongside another archangel to help you move through grief. Together they open the gateway so you can feel that your loved one has crossed safely and is at peace. Michael and Raphael pair beautifully during a health battle. Michael gives you the courage and tenacity to keep fighting. Raphael creates the healing space your body needs to actually receive it. If you’re moving through grief right now, you don’t have to carry it alone. Reach out to someone you trust, or a support service in your area, alongside whatever spiritual practice brings you comfort.
Simple Prayers You Can Use Today
You don’t need elaborate rituals to ask for help. A simple, honest request is enough. Try something like this for Michael, I’m struggling today, please give me protection, strength and courage to create the boundaries I need. For Raphael, ask for a deeper understanding of your body and emotions. Ask for the willingness to actually receive healing. For Gabriel, ask for the words and inspiration you need to create and express yourself. If sleep is the struggle, ask Haniel to help you find rhythm, calm and rest. The wording matters far less than the honesty behind it.
Why I Wrote Journeys with the Archangels
This book has been sitting inside me for a long time. It exists because Archangel Michael told me to write it. I pushed back at first, there are already books about archangels out there. He was clear. Nobody has shared their experience of working with the archangels quite the way I have, and nobody had turned it into an actual practical guide. That’s exactly what this book is, invocations, meditations, journaling prompts and signs for each archangel, plus thirty days of practices to build your own relationship with them. I list the archangels alphabetically rather than in any particular order. I want you to simply hold the book. Ask which archangel you need most right now. Let it fall open to the page you’re meant to read.
Journeys with the Archangels launches on the eleventh of November. It’s live for pre-order on Kickstarter right now. If this podcast has ever given you clarity, comfort or courage, I’d love your support in bringing this book into the world.

Listen to the Full Conversation
This post covers the heart of the episode, but there’s a lot more in the full audio. That includes several personal stories I haven’t shared anywhere else, an angelic choir appearing in a friend’s living room, and the three and a half year self-love journey that Archangel Ariel walked beside me through.
